Project 3 :Name

The Name is a series of name-themed artworks. The first artwork is a wall decoration with my Chinese name, Bo(博), woven in black and white cotton thread. The video of the making of this work was edited to create the second work in the series, Remember, which I wanted to document to show the women in history who gave so much but did not leave their names behind. In the video, the action of weaving is repeated in the work with the ticking of the clock and the sound of footsteps can be heard in the background at the beginning and end of the piece as a metaphor for their presence. The third piece is a brooch made from a model of wax thread woven into a metal skeleton, cast using the lost wax method. The fourth piece is a collar made of woven metal. I created this piece of jewelry as a reflection on the lack of feminine name rights in the Chinese context through woven and cut metal jewelry bearing my name 'Bo' at its core. Throughout my work, my personal identity is central, as is the jewelry I make, and the backstory I share during our presentation together. These are the different facets of this work.
